Mr. Bierman concentrates his practice in white-collar criminal defense and is one of the few attorneys listed in every edition of The Best Lawyers in America in criminal defense. He has practiced criminal law for more than 30 years and has been active in the Criminal Defense Bar since leaving the U.S. Attorney's Office in 1970. He has tried more than 100 criminal trials before juries and has an extremely high acquittal rate in a variety of cases, including federal income tax, foreign corrupt practices act, civil and criminal RICO, criminal antitrust, bank fraud, mail fraud and money laundering charges. Mr. Bierman has handled many forfeiture cases and has recovered large amounts of money for innocent third parties. Because of his location in South Florida, he has also developed exceptional skills in customs violations, particularly in embargo and controlled technology matters. In addition, he has successfully defended numerous international extradition cases, thus preventing extradition. He has been appointed Special Master by several United States District Court Judges. Mr. Bierman currently teaches Advanced Federal Criminal Procedure at the University of Miami School of Law and maintains a full-range criminal defense practice.
